Thread: Mounting mobos to wood summary

I thought I'd collect a couple ideas I searched for into 1 thread. I have a wood/harboard case, and was looking for ways to mount the mobo to it. I found a lot of great ideas from lots of members. They get all the credit for these ideas.

A1. Screw right into wood. Use standoffs, grommets or carpet as a spacer. This requires wood to be thick enough to allow screw to thread into it, but you won't see it from the outside. Several folks have done this with no problems.

A2. Use PCB mounting feet as shown here: http://www.happcontrols.com/amusemen...r/49101900.htm

A3. Use long machine screws with nuts. Screw goes into wood from outside, passes through standoff into motherboard, and terminates with a nut. This is good for thinner wood like hardboard, but screws will show on the outside.

Not rehashing, just collecting. Hopefully searches will land you here.

Also, need a quick cheap way of making grommets? Cut up a pen. An idea from a parts supplier.
