Looking for short DVD and HD caddy / tray

Been searching for the past few days...

I hacked up an old mini tower HP case and reconfigured the drive cage oriented to the side of the chassis. The case will sit as it's pictured in the trunk of my BMW E46. I like the easy access to the cables at the top, which will be bundled and pinned nicely out of sight to the top of the trunk area. The open face will be trimmed with Plexiglas with cut outs for the drive bays.

Here’s where I need some help. The new orientation of the drive cage will only allow a maximum of ~5.5 inches depth of any device I put in the bays. Ideally, I want the following configuration:

    1. Short DVD-Rom Drive & 2.5" hard drive caddy (with same caddy bay in the house).

or I'm willing to settle for

    2. Standard (short) 3.5" HD caddy & No DVD-Rom Drive (I can rip movies down to the HD)

Anyone come across any of the above devices that could reasonably fit in my newly modded case? Newegg lists many DVD drives as 5" form factor, but the specs from the manufactures have the drives beyond 6" normally. I know it's a stretch, but I'd really like to find some sort of USB hard drive enclosure that has the ability to "dock" like a caddy (and of course fit my case).

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks much!

    Sorry I forgot the photo...

My wife took off with the camera. I'll update with pics when she returns later today...

In the mean time, I think you get my drift.

OK. Hope it makes more sense now. I added the photo of the case. Look at the lower prtion where I added the side facing drive cage.

It fits in a 5 1/4" drive bay. It is a lockable HD Caddy. It has a fan on the back to keep the HD cool.

I'll sell it to you for $7.00 + Shipping

I'll include 2 keys with it.

Thanks Rafster. The depth is way too long for my case. See my original post...I can only use devices that are around 5.5" deep.

    No...no...

I just can't let this thread die! One last bump before it sinks to the bottom of page 1!

    Anybody?
