is it a high quality shielded vga cable? they're good up to and beyond 20feet (i don't know how that converts in meters)
Finally got my carpc off the bench and in the vehicle.
First problem, bad vga picture, smeered text, ghosting of image etc.
Was fine on bench with a 2mtr vga extension lead, in vehicle with a 4mtr lead its poo.
Its not earth loop etc I have tried it off a mains-to-12v psu.
Should I just remove my seat and carpets to get this cable out and dump it in the bin or is this a common thing?
should I use a homemade cable from twisted pair cat 5 etc will that be better (cant see it being worse)
anyone else had this problem?

Use a high quality VGA cable.
And don't run it near any power wires.
Ok tired some cat5, crap, identicle to the vga extension, had a hunt in my old stuff found 2 old extensions, joined them, perfect picture, but a mtr short. now need to find another m/f extension of 4 or 5 mtrs.
Its not picking up noise, its a ghost image, so its capacitance / resonance etc or standing waves (SWR).
The monitor input is 75ohm, thought that would kill most echos/noise.
It seems I spent a day removing/fitting the interior to have to do it again to swap it out for decent cable. Sometimes I hate ebay.........
have you tried the cable outside the car, on different displays? i would try this inside with a normal computer setup using the same resolution (if possible) that you were using in the car... does the image still ghost? maybe you're picking up some interference from a power cable or something ... better than wasting money on another cable that might not fix your prob
