ez-buddie mini barebones on ebay? any info?

hey i was browsing for shuttle barebones on ebay and ran across this:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/EXTREME-XPC-BARE...QQcmdZViewItem

i cannot find any information (reviews or user comments) other than the specs on several websites. seems ok.. may look a little tacky... but its going to be in the trunk. just wanted to know if anyone has had experience with this mini-pc line/company or maybe this particular mini pc?

    thanks guys.

    EDIT #1
oh oh.. another question that just ran across my mind.... since the power supply is external..... how will i hook up a monitor to it? will i have to consider a different route for powering my monitor other than splicing into the psu?

also, if the psu happens to f up (burn up) etc... i dont think i'll have any choices for replacements except another psu from that company (international company from what i can see). i'm gonna do more research and try to find more pics of it on the inside!

    EDIT #2
score. found the p4 version on tigerdirect. looks ok to meee! also answered my monitor power question after seeing the photos of the inside.. theres plenty of places to tap into.

    any input/feelings on this barebone?

I have been thinking about just buying a small computer also. I think it could actually be easier to just do it that way. But I don't know if they would be good enough though.

they seem to be good enough. bus speeds are ok, expansion is ok. and either route you take (athlon xp or p4) i think it will be a great powerhouse for a carputer. PLUS most everything is integrated... all you need is a harddrive, ram, and a cpu. and i've got the first 2 and the cpu would only run me like 50-60 bucks for an athlon xp.

In my opinion, I think it's a really nice case. It's hard to find cases with the double expansion bays. One for a graphics card, the other for a PCI card. In my opinion, systems like these offer maximum performance for a carputer, and for a system that you can pull out of your trunk and bring inside to use as a desktop if need me.

I like the media card reader built in, nice touch. I don't quite understand the external power supply, but if you're using this with a DC-DC power adaptor, then there's no problem.

Any idea what the fastest processor is that is compatible with this mobo? (Don't have time to research it myself, at work)

found a review on the p4 one... it came out pretty good .. just not recommended as a gaming machine... which i already assumed considering the price. but i think this thing will work wonders as a car pc for the ol trunk...

oh and i haven't found the info on fastest processors yet; athlon nor p4

heres the linky to the review:

btw i think this is possibly one of the first models that is reviewed. so keep that in mind... one would assume they improve in time..

That can definately be used for gaming. Hell, it's got a 8X AGP slot. That coupled with the 3 GHz processor would do very well with even the newest intense games. I use a 2.4 GHz carputer (P4) with a 4x AGP graphics card and it plays Counter Strike Source and Battlefield 2 without problems.

well yes but i was referring to it as it stands. but yea the p4 ez-buddies can be upgraded substantially and they will run those games for sure. i can't find the p4 barebones on ebay, only online.. and i can only find the amd one on ebay, and not online... shat. i might get the amd one its going for about 55 plus somewhere around 30 to ship. so for 85 i dont think i can beat that

or i may splurge and get the p4 from tigerdirect but there is a 7-21 day shipping wait on it so maybe f that

i'll figure it out i guess ... maybe by tomorrow more people will have more input on this?

Just a thought - if you buy it through Tiger, being a reputable company you can return it if there's any problems a lot easier than buying something on Ebay.

And no, this is not an advertisement for Tiger

thats true, but also i dont want to wait upwards of a month for it. and i'd rather have the amd version. as far as i know, the p4 will prob run a bit warmer, and it will be more expensive in parts for me (i'm a broke college student).

but at the same time, i do see your point that if something goes wrong with it, tigerdirect will prob help me out. BUT they only cover it for 30 days from what i see? i'll check again to make sure.

EDIT tigerdirect will only take it back in 30 days if you are unhappy with it. it says within 30 days, you must return the UNDAMAGED product for exchange or refund. so if something goes wrong with it, you have to deal with pcchips (12 months parts and labor). dont know anything about that company and if their support rocks ones socks off. i wonder if the one on ebay would be covered by manufacturer warranty? i will do some research on that also. i'll keep you posted.
