If you're intending to install Windows XP or 2000, you need to run SysPrep before transfering the drive over. I would link you to a guide on doing this, but my internet is funky right now.
I want to format my carPC's hard drive. But I dont what to format the harddrive when it is connected to my CarPC. I want to hook the drive up to my desktop computer and format and re-install windows via my desktop cuz it is so much easier. Is it ok to do this? Will it cause any problems?

You need sysprep, unless both systems have the same motherboard.
Windows does not like being moved to completely different system. Sysprep is one way around the problem.
The guide I mentioned earlier:

Oh, if you mean any hardware issues, there shouldn't be any. The only thing to take note of is that it's recommended to format the drive orientated the same way as you'll be running it. I.E. if you're running the harddrive vertically to reduce the risk of a head crash, you should to format it with the drive vertical.
ok so what would happen if i didnt run sysprep?
