turn off windows wireless config( run msconfig) and use the config that came with your usb to b/g
VT6212L
Tried all sorts with xp, lots of posts on the web about ppl having problems with it.
I had hoped by now to have drivers that worked, had the card 8 month!
Just went and borrowed a NEC usb 2 card, no problems.
thing is I now want to finalise my install, and this is the only piece of hardware thats holding up the 'putting in of the last screw' becuse it runs the dvd at the front of the car (all other stuff is usb1 happy)
So, does anyone on here have a working USB 2 driver for XP for the 6212l as used on some motherboards and cheap usb 2 cards?
I have read thats it a licence issue and SP3 for xp should fix it.........
I'm holding my breath, honest.

err, its not a wifi card, its a 4 port usb card, to add 4 usb2 ports to my MB.
its also a well known fault, you see these cards for pennies on ebay but never with an xp driver, something I didnt notice when I bought it.
Bought yet another usb2 card with firewire, and a driver disk! says XP driver, yippee!
guess what, the driver is for the firewire part of the card, xp still drives the usb half, and still drives it as usb1.
Does anybody have a driver for via chipset usb2(vt6212L)
I think it may be on some motherboard releases, but very rare.
I think I have a similar problem. I attached a 4-port usb hub and hooked up the Touchscreen, DVD and a memory card reader. When finding the DVD windows says it can be used on another faster USB port. I was pretty sure the hub is 2.0. Also another problem after I have restarted or came back from hibernate the DVD and the memory card reader cannot be found. I have to re-attach them and then XP finds them.
Anyone else having this probelm?

if its a 6202 or 6212 then nothing will help, seems (from what I can google) that via wont release the driver as it belongs to microsoft, microsoft plan to release it in sp3.
It can be given with hardware, but no board manufacturer has it, only via, who dont give it to the board manufacturer as they dont buy hardare only chipsets......
And via dont sell boards, except motherboards, so it may be on a MB install cd.
buying an NEC card is best option. or going back to win98.
I do have Sp2 installed. I tried to connect the DVD to a USB port directly to the MB but that didn't help either... still have to unplug the USB cable and reconnect it so XP can find it. I've seen similar post om google on external HD but most of them solved the problem by a new fresh install... so maybe I have to do that as well... Does anyone know if there is any USB API that simply force a rescan? Since discover new hardware does not find it.Originally Posted by EsKALad

Found out that it is an USB 1.1 HUB I have... on the package it said "Fully compatible with USB 1.1 and 2.0" but later on I found "Full 12Mbit/s hub"... I'm not very happy with "fully compatible" to fool poor people like me not reading to carefully when it's not supporting USB 2.0 speeds. Touchscreen no problem running 1.1 hey it may even be a 1.1 device in Lilliput I do not care. But the DVD and card reader could have been nice to have the 40 times faster 2.0...Originally Posted by dj__a
