    Carputer Questions

Is there a decent sound card with outputs for front, rear, and sub so you can control the fade/balance/and sub volume link on decent headunits with 3 RCA preouts?

The Morex cases have a 12DC PSU (uses an external 240->12V Power brick). Could this be used in a car with a shutdown controller circuit?

Is there any decent Headunits that a computer could interface to, and have the headunit pass commands to the computer? Eg I connect a computer through serial to my Pioneer Headunit via the IPBus port. Then when I press next on the headunit, it sends a command to the computer and the audio player (WMP, Winamp or whatever) than goes to the next song and then sends the ID3 Tags to the Headunit and the headunit displays the track info on the screen. Is this possible with any decent Headunits?

ATM, even though I don't use AM radio very much at all, I'd rather not lose features by going to a carputer. I want to gain features, thats the reason for changing over (along with being fully customisable), So either I want a Headunit that can do what I said above, or get a PCI/USB Tuner card for the PC that does AM (I know there are already FM ones) Is this possible?

    I just found this: http://www.audaud.com/audaud/JAN-FEB...ent/comp3.html
Would that be suitable? why don't all carputer users use it? Will the AM work in Australia?

    1. almost any. see here: Fall cleaning
    2. yes, use any shutdown controller for this. even a relay based circuit. I'd suggest a prebuilt SDC though
    3. no headunits can do this without serious hacking/circuitry that has not yet been developed
    4. AM/FM tuners for computers are not very good as far as reception
