importance of usb speed when ripping..

    Hey guys,
I am about to start ripping my cd collection to my hdd.

I will be useing EAC and FLAC but my question is:

My desktop pc i want to use only has usb 1 (my usb hdd is usb 2)
Will this add much on the time taken to ripp my cd's (i have a few hundred)?

I have usb 2 on the laptop i will be using for my car pc but i dont have a ac/dc power supply to run it in the warmth of my house but i will buy one if anybody thinks it will mean much of a speed increase..

    Thanks!

ps. my desktop is an AMD 501mhz / 312mb ram while the laptop is 2ghz / 512mb. Would this make much odds on 'lossless' ripping?

    Oh yeah, it will increase your speed a TON. USB 1.1 top speed = 12 MBit/s.. 2.0 top speed = 480 MBit/s.

Google is your friend man. I googled it and found these comparison times to rip an Audio CD:
    USB 2.0 (Hi-Speed): 3 minutes 15 seconds
    USB 1.1 (Full-Speed): 15 minutes

power unit (12v-19v) for my laptop, This draws (read fused at) 10A, would it be safe to power it off a car battery charger?
This is the only thing i have that puts out at that sort of current. I will check the voltage first..

Thought of that, but if he has to buy something either way personally I'd prefer to (althoguh it may cost slightly more) buy something tha can power the laptop inside, so he can bring it in to work on it if necessary.
