Get one that's designed for incar use. They have external antennas.

Are you asking about the XMPCR? If so, it works fine in the car. Just get a good antenna for it. It uses a standard antenna connector.

ya i first saw the xmpcr, but seems there are cheaper alternatives with serial connectors that people are able to use with the frontends. the xm thing on pc is all new to me hehe.

The XMPCR isn't made anymore. Look at the XM Direct and using a serial cable.

I'm also still looking for a cheap tv tuner. The normal tv tuners we sell in our shop are about 600 €uros and can be find at www.tvonderweg.nl

i wasnt even thinking about a tv tuner, not many off air signals in north america. what we are looking at is the satellite radio (digital). :P

xm uses two satellites, and terrestrial repeaters where available (such as cities, where buildings block the open view of the sky).

I have mine mounted on the inside of my fiberglass trunklid next to the GPS receiver. It works very well, aside from sometimes when passing uder a bridge it loses the signal for a moment, but I'm pretty sure every XM receiver will suffer the same issue if it loses "view" of the satellites.

edit: I should have said: I have my XM antenna mounted next to the GPS antenna, not the receiver itself.

cool thx. one last question however, is there software to decode the signal? i'm pretty sure they use some kind of encryption.
