Although the door one probably doesn't need a carputer to use it. That would be the big advantage. Although its going to need power from something.

6 AA batteries lasts 2-3 years depending on usage it says

btw the reason i posted it is because it is just that..... "independant of the carputer" thus making it more appealing for those who wanted this type of thing

But needs a computer.

What lostreception found is amazing. The only thing left to know is, Price. Once that is determined, hacking it to be a STANDALONE starter for your car is easy. Plus, 6*1.5 equals a max of 9 volts (assuming they are all in series, which I highly doubt) It is easy to convert 12 volts to 9 volts to power th unit.

lostreception and wired hit the nail on the head - no computer needed = exactly what we've been looking for (another person found a similar product in a biometric gun safe, but then wanted it to do silly things like cut off his gas tank after 1 minute).
