more info.... what kind of mobo, did you check the manuf site for video card (I guess is build in) did you check advance mode under display properties?
Thanatos.
Hi can anyone help on this? All I want to do is set up an old tft monitor with max 640x480 res to run on my media server. I'm damn sure I've had that res on XP before, but I'm not sure if it was before sp2 or how the heck I did it!
Someone please put me out of my misery!
Steve

Try this:
Right Click Desktop - Click Settings Tab - Click Advanced Button -
Click Adapter Tab - Click on List all Modes Button. Hopfully its listed in there at the top. Good Luck
It has more to do with your graphics card than OS (i.e. SP2). Check for the latest graphics drivers and read the manual on that. Also you can look for advanced resolution programs, likepowerstrip or whatever it's called.

easy way of setting 640X480 in xp.
when xp realises you can run at more than 640 it takes the option out of the display properties page, however, right click on any old program.
choose the compatability tab and click the 'Run in 640x480 screen resolution' check box.
run the program you jsut set this for and voila, 640x480 unless you change it back.
this worked fine for me on xpsp2 with my 8in vga screen as i needed 640x480.
saves all the trouble of playing about with powerstrip
You know what happens when you assume......Originally Posted by arebelspy

This is right but it works for individual programs no general. (unless you right click on each program........)Originally Posted by auldy
