    Cool Ghetto fabulous

Admit it, your first stab at the carputer was probably very.. uhm interesting. We all built setups that quickly got retired. Don't be ashamed. Post pictures of your most ghetto install and describe it.

I had a soare minit-atx, power supply, some hard drive and my room mate had a paper filing box he must have payed almost $1 for.
I got a reverse camera and retractable 1 DIN LCD and I was ready to go.

LMFAO, that is awesome. I really like the CD rom mounting and the hood ornament.

Who me? It's still just a desktop in the garage. Still need a dc-dc power supply and a decent sound card. Then I can begin the unfarmiliar territory.

No its a storage compartment for the tools and odds and ends (ever try to find a jumper in the trunk?)

Of all things to store some tools in you choose 2" black pipe. Interesting design choice

Hey at least you got your carPC in the car and not on your living room floor lacking network support due to a botched nLite install.

Originally I was building a themed case. It was supposed to be nemesis theme. That's why the pipe has a biohazard symbol on it. The pipe is wrapped in ribbon wire and the ribbon cable is run to unused pin son the motherboard (the other end isn't terminated so no harm done).
I have lots of LED lights in it and glow wire threaded through the case. It looks really errie. It also has oversized switches etc. When its on and the lights are off it looks like something that came off the movie set.

That computer got retired out of the car to the garage but may be going into girlfriends car this week or whenever she gets around to installing an LCS (she isn't even sure which one she wants yet).

I was always worried about getting stopped with the light effects on and the cop ****ting his pants and over reacting. That was one of the motivations for the version 2 carputer, this time a radioactive themed case but it doesn't look scarry enough to get a bomb squad called out.
