Ampie Case / M1-ATX PSU issue

Hello. I was wondering if anyone could help with what appears to be a power issue. I tried for my first powering on of the carputer today but got nothing.

I have a VIA motherboard inside the ampie case with the M1-ATX power supply. When the car is off the red light on the ampie case flashes. When the car is on I get no light at all. I know power is getting to the system, one because the light goes on, but also because the light on my laser mouse comes on.

However, the computer does not boot. The fan doesn't spin. Nothing. I'm wondering if this is a problem with the switched power source. I used the cigarette/power window system as a tap in for the switched power. I know the manual for the M1 advises against the cigarette lighter power source but whats done is done.

Has anyone successfully used the cigarette lighter as a power source?
What does the flashing light mean?
Why does it go out when the car is switched on?
What did I screw up?

Any help will be much appreciated.

more info would help... what have you tried?

My first question would be have you ever even powered the mobo with a normal desktop atx psu?

get a multimeter and check the voltage coming out of the m1atx when the car is off/on... check the ign, 5v, and 12v lines...

ensure you connected the m1atx to the right pins for the powerswitch on the mobo.

as for the blinking light... check the mobo manual for what a flashing led means.. kind of weird it happens when the car is off. r u sure the case led is connected to the right pins on the mobo?

unplug everything but the motherboard from the M1 , might not have enough power for all your stuff.

Rather than just leave the thread hanging I thought I'd give everyone the chance to call me a moron. I didn't have the powerswitch cable connected from the M1 to the motherboard. Fixed that and guess what, it works.

Undoubtedly I'll run into some other issue down the line. But hopefully I won't be as stupid as I was with this one.

For the record, last night when reinstalling XP on the carPC I had the keyboard/mouse for both the carPC and my desktop sitting next to each other... Needless to say when XP propted me for some network settings I realized my carPC mobo's keyboard/mouse ports no longer worked! Or no wait... I was using the wrong keyboard/mouse.
