    can anyone lead me to a site where i could get schematics for a dc-dc converter?

    If you want more schematics (don't know why you would after hearing about Sproggy's fine PSU, but anyway...), there are schematics for the DC 2 DC I use in my mp3 system on my web page. It doesn't provide the wide range of voltages that Sproggy's PSU provides, but if you are just after +5 and +12 volts, it's adequate.
