I am reviving this post, casue I got the same problem. Did anyone ever figure this one out?>
By searching the forums I know that I am not the only one with this problem. I have an external Sound Blaster Live! 24 Bit External sound card (sounds much better than the onboard sound on the M10000). Each time I resume from hibernation it is muted. Anyone know of a solution for this? I thought about using Frodo's setvolume app to unmute upon resume, but does anyone know why it mutes in the first place? I'll buy you a beer if you can help.

reviving....
Was this issue ever resolved. I get the muted after resuming problem and sometimes the card will hang in a way that the only way to make it work again is by unplugging the usb cable. Not even a restart makes it work. Somehow unplugging the usb cable, even with the equipment off, resets something internally. This is a major PITA as the sound car and cables are all tucked away under the dash behind the center console.
Well here I am digging this up to the surface. I had a VIA M10000 and never had this issue, but on my new board, KINO-690S1 I do. Infact if you try to go to any of the sound controls when this happens, you will get a pop up that there is no sound card connected, it doesnt mute, but completely is shut off or the creative software thinks it is. The only thing that I can think of that was diffrent is that I had a NEC 5 port USB 2.0 card connected. I can not recall if I had the sound card plugged into that, and thats why I didnt have the issue. I opened a ticket with creative labs, lets see what they say. Maybe there is a diffrent way that mini-itx power up and down there USB ports? or some feature that most USB ports dont have. It could also be the other way, maybe there is a feature that most MoBo do have that our MoBos are missung.... I will post the email upon arrival..... lets keep our fingures crossed. I have also ordered a extension ribbon so I can reconnect the PCI NEC USB 2.0 card.... I'll also post those results...

I guess im going to go head and try what they tell me too..... Ive also went into the BIOS and turned off USB Legacy mode....... I want to see if that gets rid of the issue.
PS: Links removed, they lead to inferior software. The ones on installation CD are better.

Ok, turning off the USB Legacy worked for me, I have restarted several times and no issues..... there is also a more recent driver. The one we have, if installed from the disk is version 1.0.00, they linked me to a 1.0.03.

I'll disable legacy support on the BIOS too. I just hope it doesn't disable the usb keyboard during POST.
Can you put the link for the newest drivers?
of course its going to disable your USB support duing POST, that the purpose of it HEHE...... I guess in order to have the SB work correctly we have to give up something. In my case my USB keyboards (PS3 wireless keyboards) dont have the del key to get into the BIOS so it doesnt matter to me. If you want your USB keyboard to work, you can always buy a USB to PS/2 adapter. That is what my keyboard for trouble shooting has.
PS: Do not install any of the links I posted from SB, they are inferior to the ones provided on the installation CD.
Also can someone maybe burn a image of the CD and upload so I can download? I scratched mine bad and is unreadable.

Very good suggestion but in my case the carputer is an ultra portable laptop and it doesnt have PS2 ports.
Getting into the BIOS is not that big of a problem as its not needed very often. The only time I really needed the keybord was once when an hibernation attemp failed ( powered it off during restore) so when the computer retarted it gave a menu where you could select to
delete restoration data and continue with system restart
or
reattempt restore operation
The funny thins is that there was no count down where the default operation would get selected automatically. Restarting the computer always returned to the same menu. I didnt have a keyboard on the car so I had to wait till getting home to plug a keyborad and press the ENTER key. Not having USB legacy support would mean that I would need to take out the laptop and press the ENTER on the laptop keyboard![]()
