    Post lcd question

    i'm pretty sure this hasn't been asked before but is it possible that my lcd gets it's power straight from the parallel port
    hooking up an external source didn't effect it at all. Is this possible?

    Probably not. If you wired it yourself, the power is coming from wherever you want it to come from. What was the external power supply you hooked it up to?

    No, a parallel port cannot supply very much current out its data lines (something like 5mA). For an LCD you will need an external 5V source, especially if you plan on using the LED backlight, which draws considerably more power than the LCD itself.

    i've figured out what the problem was, my gound wires weren't connected right
