Couple of guys are already in the process of making a brightness upgrade for screens - search around and have a look
I was thinking (Big Suprise :P ) could you set up a thick rectangular line of fiber optic cable along the lcd edge and have a small piece of something to diffuse the light more effeciently while your main light comes from any strong light source which is then tunnelled through the fiber cable to your lcd. I would say it sounds quite messy with the hundred of tiny fiber cables but it would allow for any strong, cheap centralize, and self cooled bulb to be put anywhere. Assuming you could make a tiny rectangular block of fiber cable.
By the way? Has anyone started a "Would this be possible?" thread for creative and out of the box thinking for things like my idea? If not, would it be a good thread? I hear the best ideas come from the most irregular discussions.
And Hello to the forum for this is all new to me. I hope to install a Carputer in my 97' Ford Escort in the near future but I'm just gathering and retaining any information I can availible on LCDs right now before I make my purchase within the next few months. My neighboor "Alti" in the forum A.K.A. Brian recently inspired me to build my first Carputer with his beautiful Albrite and his amazing scratch-built dashboard.
Also, has anyone tapped any Corporations and their engineers? Maybe, someone there would like to share their knowledge of lcds and/or anything relating to the devices. (Just my 2 cents. )
Thanks for reading
We've got our own little engineers, look up JCDillin i believe he's working on a backlight project.. maybe you could add your .02 to it.
