Are you saying the volume is all the way up in Window media player? The OS also has a volume control. Think of it as a global type of volume knob. You can get to it by Run/sndvol32.exe or Control panel/sounds and audio devices. Hope that helps.
Hey guys, i just recently finished putting together a new PCfor my GF, But there is a problem with the onboard sound. THe problem is that the Volume is all the way up and you can barely hear it, I tried to reinstall the drivers but that didnt work. I have a MSI K8NGm2v-l mobo. I dont know what could popssibly be the problem....

what is the card connected to?
is it comp speakers?
is it an amp?
attenuation like the one you describe happens when the impedance of the speaker is too low and the card can't output enough current.
comp speakers, its my onboard sound card

1. What audio utility was installed with the drivers? A lot of effective tweaking can usually be done there. More specifically, make sure you're in the right port and that the utility is set for however many speakers you have.
2. Where'd you get the drivers? From the CD? Get the latest from Nvidia's website.
3. No better? Uninstall those, and get the drivers straight from Realtek. Your chip is the ALC880.
And just because life is unpredictable, plug headphones in to make sure you get the same relative weakness from the mobo.
