New like for my old car PC

I thought my next car PC should have a bit more power so I have retired my old Via M9000 indoors. I hate waste so I recycled it into a media server for the home network..

I made this from an old LaCie SCSI CDRW case, 4x40 parallel LCD and a 2.5" TFT from a pocket TV

    Check out the video!

What did you use in front of the LCD's? I assume that when it is off, you see nothing, as in no lcd borders or PCB's. Just as shiney black surface. I would love to use something like that in my project.

Can anyone point me to a program to convert avi, mpg or wmv to animated gif?

I used some thin textured plastic (from a document folder!) cut around the LCD's, then a piece of acrylic in front of that, you can make out the shape of the screens when it's off but not very well, (not that it is off often!)

I'm tinting my car windows soon, so I'll probably use some offcuts of the film to finish the screen off.
