Hey:
I looked at the Commell boards, but decided that they were too expensive (or I was too cheap) and instead went with an EPIA SP-13000 board. While its coax digital output is a little low for some
hardware, I discovered that it is very easy to add a TOSLINK interface. There is an S/PDIF output connector on the main board, and all you need to do is connect it to a TOSLINK transmitter. I tested it first with a red LED and it works like a charm. I then dug up a TOSLINK transmitter and hooked it up, and glued it right beside my line in, line out and microphone jacks. It has been working fine for two weeks now.
