The only problem is there does not seem to be a way to get the audio out of this thing, as it has built in speakers. Also I am not sure of the quality of the audio if there was a way to hack the speakers. I am sure it is not as high as the line out from the lp3 device. What would be cool is to use this as a frontent to another machine running in the trunk... for example.

Another problem is it seems they did not expect these things to be as popular as they are, as good luck finding on in stock (and Ccity won't sell the floor model!)

You can purchase an iOpener directly from their website for the same $99.00 price. Also, they use a standard Stereo Yamaha sound processor like used in many onboard sound systems and one could easily trace down the left and right audio signals and add a couple of RCA jacks or an 1/8" stereo jack to the iOpener case.

For $99.00 it is worth it even to use this as a dumb terminal as a front-end for a more powerful, trunk mounted system. The USB port would be an excellent way to link the iOpener to the main PC.

How exactly could you link the main computer to the I-opener through the usb port. Would It be like networking them together or something? How could you get the monitor output from the main computer to show up on the I-opener's screen. I'm not a computer wizard or anything so any info would be great or any idea's because I would love to have a 10" lcd mounted in my car.

    Thanks,
    Logan

How do I load Windows on to this? Will there be any conflicts with video and device drivers?

What would be the best way to mount this in the front of my car? 10' lcd is pretty big.

Everything is Windows compatable except for the modem. There's a pretty good site with all the hardware info (bottom link on the original page). They even sell a kit for $50 which includes an HD cable, HD bracket, audio connector, VGA connector (for 2nd moniter), ps2 splitter, and an external serial port connector. Its worth the money if you ask me.

No...the unit is only available in the U.S. according to the LINUX site. Export restricted.

I contacted Circuit City main warehouse. They will not have any units in for several months so the quickest way is to buy from the web-site. The CC person said that a few stores were the last to recieve shipments (appox 3 weeks ago) and they may have one or two still. You guys can try calling your area stores to see if they have them. Georgia, North Florida, an Alabama are all out.
