I got the adaptor from eBay, and I cant see any method of not using it. An external enclosure still uses an adaptor, and no motherboards other than laptops support those drives.
That is not the adaptor I have now. The adaptor is the one below.
I think that adaptor doesn't work even though I have no idea how something can go wrong with something like that. I purchased this one,

and it looks pretty close to the one in that link. I hope it works because this is driving me crazy and hindering my install!!! I'm anxious to get it in there!

    Thanks for the reply Toaster!!

I'm AMAZED that I found you. I saw your review in NewEgg and was like, "How the heck am I going to find that guy to ask the questions I'd like to ask."

How fortuitous that you found mp3car.com and posted. Out of the WHOLE Internet, somehow I connected with you.

Let me know how your install goes.

I'll be getting my stuff on Wednesday or Thursday and I'll keep you posted.

Don't know if you've made any progress, but I'm just writing to let you know about my success.

The JAE50 to IDE converter I mentioned above (Found Here) works great with the NEC ND-6750.

It was recognized by Windows and I've had no problems.

I know that's not the Pioneer you were checking out, but I thought I'd at least mention it as a "known to work" option.

Hope all is well with your project!! Good luck!!

Just got my adaptor off eBay, and it works. I guess there must have been something wrong with the other one, but it recognizes it, even as a bootable device, and works flawlessly. So another "known solution" is now the DVR-K06 and the adaptor sold by PointingMouse off of eBay. If anybody is going to order from PointingMouse, they ship from HongKong even though there base is in the U.S. Also no tracking number because shipped via Hong Kong Post and the numbers don't translate over (no way to track outside of China). Good luck and I hope this thread helps people with good solutions. If you have any other combo's that work, please mention them for he benefits of those looking to by a working pair!

    DVD to RCA?

Anyone know of an adapter to go directly from the ?50 pin ribbon cable to A/V out and power? I have RCA A/V inputs on my Honda Odyssey VHS player. I would like to take the VHS player out and put in a slot loading DVD player. But, I do not know how to convert a computer/notebook DVD player without using a computer. Any suggestions.
    Thanks,
    Hotoru

You can't do, that the ribbon cable transfers the raw digital data and its the PC which decodes it and outputs it as video.

What you would need is a dvd player head unit or changer with rca outputs that already has the decoder built in.

Ahh, that makes sense to me. Rats! Kinda slim pickings for stand alone dash head units on ebay. Probably would not be worth more than about $150 to me. More than that and I guess I would probably just get a video iPod and hook it up to the RCA input.
    Thanks for the info,
    Hotoru
