Audigy2 zs speaker selection won't hold?

I only have the front stereo speaker output hooked up to the sound card. Under control panel I have the speakers set to desktop stereo speakers. I set the speaker selection in Audigy to 2.1 but everytime I open it up after it comes out of standby or reboot it is set to 7.1. What is causing this or how do I force it to keep the 2.1 setting?

First I'd check that you have the latest drivers. I had the same sort of issue with a different soundcard once. Driver upgrade fixed it.

Thanks, I just went through all the updates and it seems to be holding now....now its just a matter of time before I figure out what the update made not work that was working previously.
