    Low Power Athlon Mobile CPU?

OK, I haven't been keeping up on my reading of Tom's Hardware Guide for a while. So I don't know how to tell the difference between the lower power (20-something watt) AMD CPU's and the regular ones (50+ watt).

Can someone who knows clue me in?

    TIA,
    Tom

OK. Here's a little more info:
I found that the AMD Turion 64 Mobile comes in two flavors. A 35 watt version and a 25 watt version. Anyone know how to tell the difference?

    Found some more info:
The model number of the CPU indicates power consumption:
ML models (such as ML-40) use 35 watts.
MT models (such as MT-40) use 25 watts.

They are all Lancaster cores, so be careful which one you get.

P.S. They all appear to be socket 754.

    CPUs from NewEgg:

    Compatible motherboards from NewEgg:

Here are some microATX variants based on the nVidia 6100 chipset. They include onboard video and sound and most of them are microATX, from what I see:
BIOSTAR GEFORCE 6100-M7 Socket 754 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 Micro ATX
ASRock K8NF4G-SATA2 Socket 754 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 Micro ATX

Careful, DP. Not all of those boards support the Turion processors. In fact, when I emailed Epox about theirs, they said it was NOT supported and probably wouldn't work! So you have to be careful which board you get.

    I'm merely pointing out examples.
This isn't the direction my project is taking.

I can definitely say the Gigabyte GA-K8N51GMF works just fine with Turion. Have one running right next to me.

The only thing is that the Turion sits lower than regular cpus and, thus, may not make contact with heatsink. At first, I didn't realize this which cause the computer to kept on turning off (safety measure to save cpu) after a few sec.
