Lilliput Monitor / HP E-PC Problem

Hey everyone, so here's my setup. HP E-PC with a 7' LCD Liliput Touchscreen. It's nicely integrated into a 2003 Nissan Altima. Now, I had to reformat my carputer because it started acting up, and it wouldn't start. So after changing the hard drive, I finally got it reformatted with a fresh copy of Windows. After playing with it for a few days, its suddenly stopped working. It starts up, and then goes to where Windows logon is to be displayed, and then restarts and the monitor says "OVER RANGE". I don't really iknow what that means, but I think its a problem with the monitor. I believe the resolution I like using is the 640 x 480 b/c its the asiest to see. It worked before, so I don't know why it wouldn't now. I would always have to go to the Adapter settings to change it to 640 x 480 and I think I had it at like 72 Hz or somewhere around there. Can anyone help me? Should I just reformat AGAIN?! Thanks everyone!

Why don't you plug a regular monitor to it and then see if you can adjust it down to whatever resolution you want. "Over range" isn't a problem with the monitor, per se, but rather miscommunication between the computer and monitor: the computer is sending signals at a range beyond the capabilities of the monitor.

Hmm.. OK.. I'll try that sometime later.. I think that would be it, but I thought I could fix it when I go into Safe Mode, but it still gives me the OVER RANGE even when I try to start in Safe Mode.

u mite need to plug it into a (desktop?) monitor to change the settings..
but if i believe the over range message is talking about the frequency..
goto the advanced setting for the display in control panel, and set it lower maybe...
    common options are 65,70,75 Hz.

Wow.. Well now what's happening is the computer won't even start up anymore. This has happened beforel, so I think I am now shopping for a new carputer and I'll sell this one. I have everything soldered in and stuff so its very dissapointing. I ahve to take out my startup controller and everything :-(.. Summer - here I come

wait, what? it wont start up as in pressing the powerbutton and nothing happens, or crashes on boot? its your PSU if its the first, and if its the second option.. just reformat

overrange just means the resoultion on your screen is too high... you just needed to connect it to a crt or bigger lcd...

Well it started with the Over Range problem, and then restarted. I guess I didn't fix this problem fast enough and the hard drive just crashed. What happens now is that it gets to where its suppost to start, and just restarts itself every time. I hate this damn E-PC. I hate this whole carputer .. I'm so done with things. I really wish I could just go back to normal, but I've gone too far. I know I can reverse it all back to normal, but it will never be the same. I'm going to put a new computer in I think, the HP E-PC is just giving me too many problems. I'll sell it - somehow

I did that before with the same computer. Now, its having the same problem. I'm going to get it to work, every component, and then sell the car.

Man, i can sense your frustration!
if you've got a hard drive thats failing, boot block corruptions & all sorts.. you will get this 'fails to start' malarkey. seen it before.

if your sure its not the Hdisk, then check all the ribbon cables & connectors are seated as they should be inside the case. a quick glance can be misleading.

have you got a techy mate who can look at it? A fresh pair of eyes can sometimes work wonders.

    hope you get it sorted
