    Power to my new LCD screen

    Hello ALL!

    Just got my LCD screen in the mail, started to hook it up. Got a question: It requiers 12V DC to power it up. I thought computer got 12V, I need 12V - perfect, but it did not work. No matter what hookup I use (MB, HDD or Floppy connectors) screen does not work For a minute I thought That I just got a bad screen, but I found a liitle AC adapter, hooked that one to the screen and it worked. Question : is there any way I can ran the screen off computer power supply?

    was your computer running when you were trying to power the screen?

    turn off computer...
    unplug supply....
    hook up 12v to screen (from HD power cord)...
    plug in supply....
    turn on computer...
    screen should turn on...

    if you just use the switch on the back of the power supply without powering up the computer...you wont get any voltage through the power cables. your motherboard has to tell the supply that it should turn on.

    if this supply is not hooked up to a motherboard, all you have to do is hook up the screen to the 12v wire, plug in the supply, flip the power switch in the back and then... use a wire to connect the green wire and a black ground wire....THIS IS FOR AN ATX SUPPLY!!!!!!!

    Hey man,

    thanks for a quick answer. I am familiar with power supplies enough to start it up with no motherboard, but not enough to remember that RED is 5V and YELLOW is 12V So, for the whole day I was trying to run 12V LCD of 5V and for some strange reason it did not work I got it now... One of the problems was that LCD power input is red - +12V and black - ground. I hooked up red to red, black to black and........ it did not wrk
