Post About power Supply to PC in car

Hi all...sorry about this post...I am a newbie to this MP3 car setup (just finished building my LCD)

Now I need to worry about power supply. Please correct me if I am wrong. The car batt supply out 12V direct. There are 2 ways to do this.

1.Inverter so that I can get an AC supply and I am plug my PC direct. The pros of this method is that I can plug in other home appliance? Bad points are noise (solved by grounding the PSU to the car) and prob cost???

2.DC - DC. I have no idea how this works but I know this can be done...can someone enlighten me?

I would say the easiest way is to get the inverter that plugs into the lighter socket.

The better way IMHO would be to make or buy a DC-DC converter, you can look at the DC-DC thread on this board for that.

To make one is a matter of finding the parts, I think Sproggy had plans, you will have to search on this board.

When I get a power supply it will be DC-DC with about 200-250 Watts.

Go DC-DC. You can find some supplies at
