    Decible Meter?

Anyone ever hook up a decible meter so it shows them how loud their stereo is at all times? I'd prefer that to a volume indicator.

    drabs?

    or do you mean drags?

to get a dB that's worth a damn, you're goig to have to spend some money, otherwise, you won't be getting an accurate reading at all

Ya sorry, drags. I don't think it would be that expensive. It's just a receiver with a display. I've seen 1/2 din units.

a GOOD unit runs in the thousands.

you can get a crappy db meter from radio shack for a few hundred bucks

but like I said, with the crappy unit, don't expect it to be real accurate

just a small point. rather than spend money on a db meter, your better off using money towards better sound. If your desperate u may be able to hire one for a day. shame you havent got a mate who works for health & safety.... they got loads of that kit. spose u could try & ask them if they got kit they're chucking out???

    but...
its the distortion in sound that shafts your hearing. even that subtle distortion you dont notice untill u hear someone elses kit.
