questions about running +5v from psu in trunk to dash

I'm going to run a +5v line from the carpc's psu that's in the trunk to the dash to power a usb hub, and a slim slot loader dvd drive.

I have a couple of questions.

    Should i fuse this line?
do i need to run a ground from the psu to the dash also, or can i just ground it to chassis?

is there anything else I need to know?

    Thanks for the help!

You want to run a ground because I don't think the chassis is common ground with the 5v rail, I could be wrong with a DC-DC PSU.

I guess you don't -need- a fuse, but it could save your PSU if something happened to the wire.

In my current inverter setup the cahssis is common ground even to the PSU of the CarPC!
