I'm sure this has been asked before - but is it easy to do this?

Or is anyone running DVD's on a modded i opener?

Just wondering - I saw the Linux-Hacker thing which is cool but made no mention of a CD/DVD option?

you can.. the problem is getting the screen to work with another controller. You just can't mod an i-opener to do dvd. No hardware decoding and I'd bet software decoding would drop frames like mad. Thats just a tought though. I'd love to see if someone has done it since its actually a good screen.

I-Openers have a DSTN screen. These screens do not refresh fast enough to do watchable DVD. There are people who are working on trying to swap out the screen in I-Openers to a TFT, but as far as I know, there hasn't been major successes yet.

Yes, Meatballman is right, you will get a lot of ghosting on the screen when you watch.

I can vouch for this -- I used to have an i-Opener, and though I never modded it, I can say that the refresh rate is horrifying.
