Unhappy Is my M1000 MB toast?

Newby here. still trying to put my carPC together.

I bought a M1000 MB on E-bay awhile ago. Gradually got all my stuff and last week began putting it together.

I've got the M1000 MB, 512 MB Kingston RAM, Toshiba HD from a dead notebook, M1-ATX PS, ZoomPC case, and a E-bay generic 8"touchscreen monitor.

I've had some problems with stuff including having to replace my M1-ATX PS. In the interim I have been using an old ATX desktop PS.

Long story to get to the point. When it boots up it keeps rebooting multiple times. eventually I'll get to the Bios screen and can set it where I want. It then tries to boot into the old Win2K OS on the HD or into the CD WinXP install disk. The farthest I can get is about 30 secand then it reboots like I hit the reset button.

I have tried diagnostic software (can't get it to work). Acronis TI to access the HD (reboots as soon as I try to access the HD). Eventually the time before reset/reboot appears to be shortening.

    I'm stumped, Any sugestions?

    Thanks

I remember reading that the M10K has some "capacitors" problem, but I am not 100% sure. May worth a trip to google to find out.

unplug the harddrive and see if you can get it to boot through bios and then boot into dos off a boot disc. The hard drive might have been damages with what ever killed the laptop.
