    perpendicular recording technology

Did a quick search and didn't see anything already posted about this. If there's already a thread, feel free to point me to it.

I was searching on new egg, just checking prices, etc, when I came across this:

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148140

Then I googled it and found this:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perpendicular_recording

    Thoughts?

Less moving parts? hrmmm - how would this fair in the carPC world do you think?

    duscuss!

I think it would fare just as well as any other hard drive.
one might think that the magnetic particles are less resistant to bumps and shocks because they are standing vertically, although i don't know that this is the case.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

Its not the magnetic particles that are affected by bumps.

I think this would be just as durable as regular hard drives. Albeit with more storage per size.
