I have a new 2006 Forester 2.5XT (Silver)
That's what I thought about the VIA processors. Very cheap, reliable, and cool running, but without a lot of performance. Perfect for your basic car computer.
I might want to do some non-basic stuff though, like DVDShrink, emulators, pc games, and other stuff, so I am probably going to go for Core-Duo or the 35W X2 when it comes out. My entire budget will be about $3500 - that's how much I'll probably get for selling my old Camry, but that includes all of the other modifications that I want to do (window tinting, dynamat, amps, subs, speakers, power distribution, headrest LCDs, etc). Engine modifications will come further down the line.
I figure $250 for tinting, $250 for dynamat, and the $180 that I just spent on the center dash piece leaves me with about $2800 for the computer, screens, sub, amps, speaker, and power distribution stuff. I should be able to put together a decent system for this much :tune:
