Low Bitrate
Off topic, but wanted to make sure everyone knew!
Hi All,
This is off-topic but I wanted to make sure everyone knew! Delorme is currently offering their TripMate GPS unit for the amazingly low price of $50 USD.
Details at : http://delorme.com/redirect/specialo...5329&code=3341
Out of the box, this GPS can only work with the Delorme software, however, it is relatively easy to hack it to work with all GPS software.
Details here:

I ordered one of the units, completed the modifications on the above page and am now using it as the reciever for Micrsoft Streets And Trips 2001 which is the ONLY software I have found with good Canadian map support.
Any canadian's reading this who want GPS, this IS the software you want to use. The map detail is infinitely better then anything else I could find.
So its a great time to add cheap GPS to your setup if you are already running a full car PC with some kind of TFT LCD.
Enjoy!

IT takes a bit longer to acquire a fix then earthmate.. but not bad.
Still a great litle GPS.
Have you discovered a way to get STreets and Trips to update more often then 15 seconds?
The lag is sort of annoying.
