have you powered it correctly?
I am looking for a USB 2.5 bus-powered External Drive enclosure that will show up when the computer boots. The drive enclosure I have right now only shows up as an "not initialized" disk and has to be disconnected and reconnected to show a drive letterUnless anyone knows another solution I though I'd try a different drive enclosure. I've been scowling the Internet for days trying to find a solution.
Thanks

I have a cheapie I bought off of fleebay that works great. It dosent have a brand name but it was the cheapest one (that you can get with shipping included).
I power up and it comes up like an internal drive. (in 2000/XP) I do have a 3.5 external usb drive that prevents the computer from booting (I am guessing this is a bios issue). Once the bootup cycle is complete though I can plug it in and it goes great.

Its self powered so it gets power from the USB. It works fine once its unplugged and replugged in.Originally Posted by sama
Mine is a cheap ebay one as well. eStar or something like that. I though it was a bios issue too but I updated to the most recent bios and tried the drive on another computer with the same result. I have a 1gb USB flash drive that comes up after boot with no issue. I need to avoid having to unplug and replug in the drive after boot. So finally after coming up with nothing else I though maybe changing the enclosure would work.Originally Posted by partyharty
Any other ideas before I waste my cash on another enclosure?
