Looks to me like you just need 3 pieces of thin plexi (top & sides), there a plenty of spots there where you can secure it.
Well, wouldn't you know it, I lost the lid for my MP3box (this was before I decided to make it my mp3box) but, I still need a lid. I was considering making one out of plexi, but an not too sure on how to go about this. Another problem I have with this is that the inside of the case isn't that nice looking. I am going to paint the outside black, and if I use a plexi lid, I will also paint the inside black. So, does anyone have any other possibilities other than plexi, or any ideas as to how I would make the lid?? Thanx for your help, I suppose I better put some pics of the case then, lol

Now, as you can see, this isn't the finished thing, I have since then mounted the HD, but not much more due to a lack of money. I need a flex PCI adapter, and a usb soundcard.. Also, teh HD was to be mounted on teh inside of the lid, but having no lid, I can't to this yet...
I will also have a 20X2 backlit inversed LCD in the front, with 4 led lit push buttons, along with a remote reciever. In keeping with teh red thing, if I used a plexi lid, I could have the inside lit up with red leds, like under the edge on teh mobo, or something. Thanx again for your help, YOU BETTER HELP!!! lol

I didnt think of that, but I would prefer to bend the acrylic around teh same as the old lid.... how do I heat and ben it???
I have told you this before..... GOOGLE!!!
A strip heater is the best tool to form acrylic. This tool will only form straight line bends. Buy one from your acrylic dealer. The strip heater will heat just the area to be formed.
Heat the sheet until it begins to sag at the bend line. The bend should be made away from the side exposed to the heating element. Sheet thicker than 3/16" should be heated on both sides for a proper bend. Use forming jigs or clamps for best results, and wear heavy cotton gloves when handling heated acrylic.

You will probably want to use Lexan instead of Plexiglass. It's cheaper, and easier to work with....
You can either cut and glue, or bend. Bending will provide a slightly neater appearance, but gluing might be easier.
The only hard part will be providing the flange at the back for the screws to go through. You may need to use angle irons, and either weld a bolt on the other end, or tap the hole and use a larger screw.

I think I could do the flange things first... Cut 100 or so degree triangles out of teh acrilic where the main folds are.. then heat and bend the flanges, then the sides.. something like this...

The red lines are bends....
They look more like 90 degree to me.Originally posted by THEMP3KID
