Black and grey connector on ATA33/66/100 cable

Does it matter if I plug my hard drive into the black or the grey connector on this cable. Reason being is the DVD player is to far away to be connected to the grey connector, so I have to plug the hard drive into the grey and the DVD into the black. If I am not mistaken this would be backwards. Will this still work, or can someone please clarify this. Thanks

It really doesn't matter if you have the master/slave jumpers set on both. If you have them on cable select, black will be master, grey will be slave.

Ok so let me get this straight. If I set the jumper on the HD to master and the DVD jumper set to slave I can plug the HD into grey and the DVD into black?
Or do I need to set the jumper on the HD to slave and the DVD to master?
    Thanks

    Thanks.
Just to clarify, I can buy this cable http://store.yahoo.com/casecooler/36ide80con2d.html , set my HD to master, plug it into the grey connector; set my DVD to slave, and plug it into the black connector, and it will work. Is this correct?
