    Slim/slot load DVD + laptop HD

    ok since i have been searching for slot load DVD and a cheap 30-40gig laptop HD i thought i did post here also to see what ppl will recommend.

    So post urs and what u think. Once i get all these 2 remaining stuff i can start construction on my DIN size case

    True, but it is atapi so you should be able to get it to work... From what I read, the only slot load notebook dvd's were made for mac's/apple's... I could be wrong though...

    Hey charles... considered a 1GB microdrive?

    I really want one of those for my system... but the price is hard to chew... if we could organise a group purchase for it? ... well then... u KNOW im in...

    Your option for storage could be 1.8" Toshiba HD's (Really small), or 20/30GB IBM Travelstar 2.5" HD's (pretty cheap, on ebay). IBM HD's will take a beating and keep on ticking... ive pumped 17V, dropped it while it was on, and had it in my car for 4months, and my 810mb ibm is still working! It wasnt a new HD to begin with either... it was pulled out of a P166 notebook a loooong time ago.

    You never know how much slack space is in a pioneer 106S till you actually take one apart and start hacking.

    Also, does that maxview unit u got display Dos during boot?

    yeah..i am leaning towards the IBM one...30/40gigs

    yes, the maxview even displays the dos + bios thing. And believe me i get better resolution than i do with my ATI card
