Google is your friend. Western Digital & Seagate has made them for some time. There are lots of folks out there.... This is the best place.

There are many suppliers of these drives. Unless you have extra $$$ you can't go too big. The last time I researched the drvies, the price point shift was at about 64 - 120gig size.

I think what most people do is to set the OS on the SSD and put audio / video on a stanard 7200rpm drive.

So, i bought a Gigabyte GA-D510UD for my carPC, but by the looks of it, i'll only be able to use the sound card in 4 channel mode, with the line in being used for the DAB+ module.
Does this look right to everyone?
The AMP i have takes 2/4/5 channels and outputs to 5 channels, so if i input the 4 channels everything would work correctly right?

This thread along with all others really on carputers is old. There is new exciting stuff out there now that trumps what all of the posts talk about. Can anyone give me any fresh ideas on what to do for a carputer for todays technology?

AND YES, I SEARCHED SO BACK OFF. Like I said, most if not all of the posts I have read over the last 3 weeks have been old and outdated. Everywhere I look people are talking about how redgtivr6 is the person to talk to. Well, she hasn't logged on since last Oct... Anyone else know of an awesome, regardless of price, carputer set-up for car audio? I've read a lot of reviews on the new AMD Zacate E350 and it seems to be the current best? And I've read alot of posts that really don't have a conclusion as to what soundcard to use to get great sound. Anyone have any updates for this? I've checked here and at all of the good car audio sites with no luck, still...

Define "Great Sound". The sound chip is Realtek which handles all the way up to Dolby True HD over HDMI. So if its "fine" for HTPC use, I don't see why it would "suck" for car use where the noise floor is ten times higher.

Zacate board kicks and crushes the Atom boards. No Atom board has USB 3.0/SATA 3 and those customer class SATA 3 SSD's are out and very fast. Will handle 95% of the video formats out there, it will struggle with 1080p@60 video but how many people have those camcorders???

There some silent boards coming from Foxconn and Power Color, no release dates but I would think before the summer.

any1 has info on these new UEFI motherboards? they say it vastly improves POST times compared to classic BIOS....
been looking for a good motherboard with fast POST (seems to me that POST is what takes most time of booting up the system) but no success....

so far i am tempted to go for zotac h67-itx along intel sandy bridge 2100 with itel SSD.

any1 has better idea for fast POST mobo?

I have just seen a board that could be a great build : - Intel DH61AG only one con so far no SATA 3

It has internal headers for 5:1 / 7:1 audio LVDS and eDP connectors for flat panel monitors at the front

1 x PCIe 4
1 X mini PCIe half height
1 X mini PCIe full / half for mSATA Drive

Quite a lot of other features as well

I have been thinking of possible purchase of this board for my build including a 64 GB mSATA drive

The rear ports are very low profile so should be able to fit in a TDA Amp as well

The New Zotak Mini ITX boards make really fast small PCs providing you have a good cool ventilated spot you can put an i3, i5, or even an i7 in some of them if you dont go for the imbedded variety, the new boards have Sata3.0, USB3, onboard WiFi and even Bluetooth on some with duel onboard graphics and great sound chips.
