    Simple Harddrive Shock Protection

Well, I always have hard drives go out on me, and luckily, the geniuses at Walmart don't know the different between a 2.5" Seagate and a 3.5" WD. So I don't worry too much when one goes out; although, it is quite annoying putting everything back over to the new drive. So I did this little project and it was really easy, took less than an hour to do it all:

First I screwed metal L joints to the side of the HDD (glue a washer to the hole if it's too big for the screw):

Then I used some rubber donuts as the 'cushioning' device:

Then I just drilled the holes and put it in my car:

This might not be as elaborate as some of the idea's I've seen around here, but I think it will get the job done.

    IMO, thats over done.

    It looks good, should work.

To tell you the truth, I've never had a problem with my 3.5" drive. and it sits on top of my sub enclosure, literally sits there. its not being held down with anything, so with every hit of the subs it boucnes around and I've never had a problem

Oooohhh! I get it now. Yeah, they do look a similar. They probably would work as well. They are pretty soft and flexible, maybe too much.
