stuck on 'verifying dmi pool data' booting from a CF card

I have an epia ms12000, with a 4gb samsung CF card. The ms12000 has the ability to boot from its CF slot, though I do have a CF-IDE adapter as well.

I first installed winxp on a normal hard drive, and ghosted it onto the CF card. When I attempt to boot off the CF card using either the CF slot or the CF-IDE adapter, the computer POSTS and then just sits saying "Verifying DMI pool data..." There was nothing else hooked up to the computer besides the CF card.

I then tried installing winxp directly onto the CF card (in the CF slot). Windows setup recognized the CF card, and it copied all the install files onto the card just fine. When the computer rebooted, I got stuck on the same message. I ran fixmbr, and again got the same message.

So, I made a win98se boot disk, booted off of that, and did the format c: /s command. I removed the boot disk, and was able to boot off the CF card. It would sit at the DMI pool message for several seconds, and then the c:> prompt would pop up. I assumed this was progress

I then tried copying that image onto the CF card again. I got stuck on the same old DMI message.

I don't really know where to go from here, as I don't have a huge understanding of why theres a problem.

    cliffs:
-I get stuck on the "verifying DMI pool data..." message after installing winxp directly onto the CF card
-I can get past the message by running format c: /s from a win98 boot disk
-I don't know where to go from here

edit: one other thing: I tried booting off of another 512mb CF card I have (though it doesnt have anything installed on it). It gets past the DMI message in about half a second

Some cards are incompatible. See this thread:

    Kingston 2gb CF

and then do a little searching for more info.

Well, I am able to get it to boot into dos. I have searched and there doesnt seem to be any solution other than buy a new CF card.

I dont see why I can get it to boot into dos and not winxp
