Pac AAI-NIS2 using a digital cable

    Hey all,
I am still trying to learn what pieces to install in my in car setup. But I am going to use the Pac AAI-NIS2. I would like to run digital cables from my pc to the Pac AAI-NIS2, but it takes RCA input. So my question is:

What to use to convert from the digital signal to the analog?
Am I going about solving the problem correctly or is it overkill. I am not sure what soundcard I am going to go with I am thinking external so any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    hap

Since no one has given any input what is the best way to go from a digital signal to a analog signal. I looked for a DAC converter, but they are very expensive so is my only solution is go from a PC-> Amp->Pac->Head Unit ??

Why would you go from your PC to you amp then to the PAC then back to the HU?

    Typically, you would go

    PC> PAC> HU> AMP

and, as such, is there a reason you are stuck on going optical?

yes, you can get a cleaner signal, but I question the point if you're just going into a head unit....

Yeah I am just trying to keep the signal as free from noise as possible. Thats why I tried to go with a digital cable. I don't really know how much noise a analog signal would have.
One thing is that I don't have a lot of room and I would like to keep everything tucked away, thats one reason I don't really want to go with an amp. I don't know much about them either so that probably doesn't help. Should I even go with an amp if so which one?

I undestand wanting to keep the system free of noise. It's why I am running an optical cable in my car. From a sound card into an Alpine processor.

With good RCAs and run properly, not much noise will be induced into an analog cable, but with a computer in the car, there's more chance of it.

There aren't very many people who have a lot of room on here. In fact, if you had room, I'd say you were in the minority.

I'm a bit confused how going with an amp will enable you to tuck things away and would make a difference since you don't have a whole lot of room.

    As for which amp?

FAQ: What speakers/amps should I go with?
