Can I run this from the dash to the trunk?

Hi, I was just wondering if this would work from the dash up front to where my case is in my trunk? Its a pcmcia dvd-rom slot load. Thanks

It can be viewed here - http://www.essencompu.com/nupplysingar.asp?ID=1953

Look closely at the picture. It doesn't look like a slot-load to me. I mean, it could just be the quality of the pic. Or the pic could be of another model. But I generally expect to see a slot.

if u click on the front\back image on the site for a closeup, u'll see that it is indeed not a slot dvd and looks like u need a adapter for the back

regardless of it being a slot drive or not, is it possible to run a pcmcia drive say 8-10 ft?

Also, I think that site may be lying to ya. That drive looks like it is designed to go in the expansion bay of a laptop, not be connected through the PC card (PCMCIA) slot.

Unless you already purched this drive, why not get a $50 slot load IDE drive, and get a USB or firewire bridge board?

Just as a side note: you can also get those slim CD/DVD-ROM drives in an IDE interface (which you can slap a USB or 1394 adapter onto to allow for distance from host)
