rip out my dash - insert a lcd screen

I am from the UK so all u yanks proberly havn't heard of a Vauxhall Carlton - these cars come with a digidash in it but i want to upgrade the tired lookin thing to a LCD screen that shows all the relevent dials and gauges (speedo revs volts oil pressure etc etc)

i havn't a notion so all help would be welcomed with opened arms.

i am lookin into a carputer aswell but not for this project - like i said any and all help greatly appriciated

probably quite dificult to do as the carlton isnt OBD compliant. You would probably have to built custom circuits and software to get it to work. On the legal side the speedo would also have to be dedicated hardware and not running on a pc as the plod wouldn't want you speeding because your carputer has crashed. A speedo also has to be certified for it to be legal. You can buy stuff from the likes of SPA but your looking at about 2 pints short of a grand to buy it. .

thanx for fast responce V8 - was looking at SPA - £191 is the price - unless u r thinking of a diff model than i was - i didn't want it to run of the carputer for exactly that reason - i am looking to build a near all new dash - bought the car for diffing but it was in a bad state and all the mates were laughing at me telling me to get rid - that has spured me now to get it ship shape (welding and B/kit on and finished) all left is the interior so i wanted to do something totally different -

I was looking at the all singing all dancing LCD dash version since that's what I thought you were looking for. If its just the simple mono gauge type your after then yes there are more options for less money.
Would like to see a pic too as I haven't seen them for years either. I remember when they came out everybody thought wow, now you think its old hat lol. I guess nothing stays still.

hehe thats a proper old school england pimp mobile. You do know those alloys are worth a fair bit dont you for pure retro appeal? There is a set with ford/pug pcd and pug 306 offset 9and other cars) on ebay now. last time i looked they were well over £200 for a set of 16's with knackered tyres.
