    Ampie power connector

This is my first post, so please be nice. I've been trolling here for a while and this weekend I installed my carputer. Thing is, I was so excited to get it into my car that I didn't do all of the software setup I should have done from the comfort of my desk.

Now I'd like to be able to bring my ampie case computer back inside and connect it to my regulated dc power supply, but I need another wiring harness like the one that plugs into the back of the ampie. The one that came with it is installed in my car. Anyone know what this plastic connector is called so I can ?

    Thanks.

It's on the manual :-) It's a Molex "mini-fit JR" series with a 2x4 configurration. I'm looking for that myself but I have yet to find one. The manual says to
Consult www.molex.com for additional information on housing and mating pins (male/female). All "mini-fit JR" parts can be purchased on-line from www.digikey.com.
but I can't find it at digikey.com. So if you have any luck finding one, please let me know. By the way, this has been discussed here before. Good luck!

    me too!

I used a pentium 4 connector in the house, which fits fine on the required side, but I need a proper one now since I want to sell the case and I'm using the connector! so I'm subscribing to this thread!

If this is it, than it can be had from digikey here.

It looks like it, but I am not sure about the shape of the pins and I need to go to work or I would check. They are a whopping $.68 so I think I will get some any way. They also have the other piece (Digikey pary# wm3603-nd) for $.68 so it may be a win win situation.

Wow, that was quick. Thanks guys.

I have an order for 10 of each now. I have no idea what I'm going to do with 10 of the things, but I'd feel pretty silly paying $9 in shipping/handling for a $0.68 item.

Note: If your order is over $25 they'll waive the $5 handling fee.

If you get those, do you also already get the metal pins (male and female ones) for it? I'm going to be spending $75 if I have it shipped to where I am, so I think I'm going to get hack P4 connector instead 8) Unless any of you are going to the Philippines soon? Hehe.

I think the ampie case makers should've just provided extra ones in the first place. Mine even lacks the 3 reserved pins.

I ordered from digikey. It didn't come with pins, but Fry's (non satanic bestbuy) had some male pins that seem like they'll work.

I haven't tried connecting it to my computer yet though. Now you've got me worried. I'll try it out later and post the result.

Drat. Male pins go in the female molex. Female pins go in the male molex.

The connectors I got from digikey do fit the ampie connector though.
