    CarPC with Vonage

    Hey Guys,
I'm a total n00b so if you've all already seen this(and I haven't come across it yet) then sorry for the re-post. But I thought this was pretty slick.

True, but it gives me a glimmer of hope for the future. More toys! Actually, I almost never use the phone. I know how can I call myself an Angelino, right. Most of my "phone calls" are on my home PC using Xfire, Hamachi or TeamSpeak(for free.)

I think at the minimum, or at least the lowest 'quality setting', Vonage needs at least 90 kbps

you might have more luck trying a diferent VOIP provider, i have noticed that vonage requires a lot more bandwidth for clear calls then the VOIP provider i use for my business.

I was runing voicepulse for 2 years for my business with no problems and then got vonage for our home lineand it sounded horrible they both are on the same internet, i had to install a QOS router on my network to get vonage to work.

you could even run your own PBX system and you can then play with the codecs so you can lower the bandwidth usage...

I use Connect.Voicepulse.com for the VOIP line, (cheaper then vonage)
    and then i have a P3 555 running TrixBox.org Asterisk PBX.
