[B]Charles - Two ideas
Run all the usb, serial etc etc down into the center console or somewhere else besides the face (It will take away from the look of the "radio" in my mind and also
Keep in mind that i am going for portability here. I dont want to start mounting things permantly in the car. The only thing that will prolly be seperate from the box is the psu. which will be hidden somewhere in the car.
yeah, i could do that, i even have a stock radio at home that i might consider, when i am ready for the REAL box, i have all options. I even when to home depot yesterday to check out some tools for sheet metal...some cost from $30 to $50. Dont know which one i need yet.
how about buying a cheap cd player, ripping it apart, running the slot load dvd right up against the head unit and also running the individual controls to a matrix orbital keypad, therefore giving you a completely stock looking radio that is really a pc
Only if i had a slot load DVD then it might be a diff story. Still, i would rather build the whole thing myself if u get my drift. When it comes to building stuff like that Macgiver fellow, i am good at it, tell me to hook it up to the car, that is a diff story......I understand the theory but that is not my territory
Even going so far as to connect the head unit's eject to the slot load's eject, making it completely invisible that there is a pc back there!
