Nope...it will be on the face plate. And i will try as much as possible to make it look professional
Keep in mind that i am going for portability here. I dont want to start mounting things permantly in the car. The only thing that will prolly be seperate from the box is the psu. which will be hidden somewhere in the car.

how about buying a cheap cd player, ripping it apart, running the slot load dvd right up against the head unit and also running the individual controls to a matrix orbital keypad, therefore giving you a completely stock looking radio that is really a pc
yeah, i could do that, i even have a stock radio at home that i might consider, when i am ready for the REAL box, i have all options. I even when to home depot yesterday to check out some tools for sheet metal...some cost from $30 to $50. Dont know which one i need yet.

Even going so far as to connect the head unit's eject to the slot load's eject, making it completely invisible that there is a pc back there!
Only if i had a slot load DVD then it might be a diff story. Still, i would rather build the whole thing myself if u get my drift. When it comes to building stuff like that Macgiver fellow, i am good at it, tell me to hook it up to the car, that is a diff story......I understand the theory but that is not my territory

What you gonna do about a power supply? Is it going in the same box, or are you running an external unit?

How about air circulation, won't that be an issue when it's all stuck inside the dash?

Nope...it will have to be outside...
funny u should ask. I took that into consideration. I ran it last night to just to see what will happen. Over 1hr into testing i got the BSOD. Turned it off....opened the box and touch the cpu fan thingy....damn was it hot.

Anyway yesterday i bought this really tiny fan and i think i will use the other slim fan, first i got to see if it will fit. If not i might have to cut the aluminium thing....anyway i will take pics

That's good news charles, because from what I see right now, it looks like you just changed the dimensions of a standard power supply case. At least the few that I have fit together the same way as your case. Why not try putting a swinging door on there or a hatch, sliding door, or hell, a GULLWING door?
