Thread: found something new to mod :) nVidia cards bootup messages...

NiBiTor is a program that lets you modify your nVidia card's BIOS.

It allows you to customize the bootup message, or take it out completely, amoung a slew of other features. It's pretty straight forward.

Note: NiBiTor does only work with Geforce5, 6 and 7 series OFFICIALLY.. But I successfully modified my Geforce2 GTS 64mb BIOS using this program. All the values come back garbled, so be VERY careful... Me, nor the author of the program are responsible if your card dies, or catches on fire and destroys your entire house, leaving you homeless with hurricane Ernesto around the corner waiting to swoop you away.


Once you've modified the BIOS, you have to flash it back using:
nvFlash

Just throw the 2 executables onto a bootable floppy, flash it back and your done. Your screen may go black/flicker/etc during the process, the LEDS on your keyboard chase as a status bar type of thing. It's pretty neat..


Have fun and be careful. I initially started researching this stuff to remove the nVidia card's BIOS splash screen to try and decrease boot times.. but I don't think disabling the boot splash sped anything up
