actually, most car audio companies, kenwood,pioneer etc, just expect us to tap into a lead that is triggered when the car is not in motion (i.e. a parking brake ground), no tapping into any car computers

wer arent talking about that, we are talking about lcd's being viewable only while the car is parked

jsut try to think of all the standards for safety that would have to be guaranteed for this thing to be sold in the US.

Existing LCD systems connect to the handbrake by a single wire to ground. On my Kenwood display this stops me watching TV whilst moving, but I can view the interface for the CD player and tuner, and view the GPS display. This certainly is not complex and can easily be used in any vehicle.

If a system is released that lets you watch movies whilst moving, its not the manufacturer breaking the law, its you for watching the movie whilst driving.
