    Flamebait : power on pulse

    Hi all,

at the risk of getting flamed 'bout using the search option (which I did!)

How would I go about creating a simple circuit that generates a pulse long enough for "ATX power on" when I turn my key to ACC?

so basicly: turn key=> acc 12V goes high => puls is generated => relais "connected" to pulse activates=> carputer starts up.

I tried looking at the wel known power on/off circuit, but wasn't able to filter-out that part...

    please help!

A simple 555 one shot circuit should do the job, have a look at this site for details.

Total re-design underway: on the whole progress is very slow as the car is taking up too much time :)

brrr. that's a lot of reading... I'll take a look at it when I'm sober, in the mean time does anybody know a simpler solution with only a capacitor & a resistor or something....

    marsjell,
this isnt what you asked for, but, check your bios settings for a power resume setting or something of the likes, and set it to always on. that way when power is applied to the computer power supply, or inverter, the computer boots. no idea on a pulse, but let me know if you figure it out. thanks.

edit: if your bios doesnt have the setting try flashing to the latest release, my main machine (abit kt7 didnt have it, then i flashed it) same with my mobo in the car. (had it after flash)

That's what I do, only it's on a switch so I don't have to leave the truck on if I want to leave the computer on.
